Bawrunga Coffs Harbour GP Super Clinic Ltd. has been announced as the successful applicant to the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing to develop and operate the new health facility which will open in late 2013.
“Today is a very exciting day for both Coffs Harbour and for Bawrunga” said Leavina Reid, the CEO of Bawrunga Aboriginal Medical Service, the parent organisation of the Bawrunga Coffs Harbour GP Super Clinic Ltd.
“The GP Super Clinic will be a place where patients can access multidisciplinary, integrated, team-based approaches to care for their entire family.
“This means that patients will be able to access allied health services and nursing care with these services coordinated and led by a group of wonderful GPs who will be the backbone of the GP Super Clinic and who are so important in gaining and maintaining health and wellbeing,” said Ms Reid.
The GP Super Clinic will be operated by Bawrunga Aboriginal Medical Service which is an independent, not-for-profit health and medical service which operates six not-for-profit medical centres across NSW.
Ms Reid said the GP Super Clinic would deliver increased access to high quality primary care for the entire community – both indigenous and non-indigenous.
